Course Sequence

Course Sequence

Overview

Over the four years of high school, each student will complete a sequence of courses. The grade-level sequences include HISP courses (literature/composition and social science); other CKM core subjects (mathematics and science); foreign languages; and electives.  Below is a sample curriculum for all four years of high school. 

9th Grade

HISP Courses

  • English 9: Literature and Composition
  • Western Civilization

CKM Core Courses

  • Biology or Molecular Biology
  • Mathematics (various levels)
  • World Language (French, German, Japanese, or Spanish)
  • Physical Education

10th Grade

HISP Courses

  • Writers’ Workshop/Composition (1 semester)
  • Ethnic Studies (1 semester)
  • English 10: World Literature: Africa, Latin American, Asia and the Middle East
  • World Cultures: Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East

CKM Core Courses

  • Chemistry/Physics/AP Biology
  • Mathematics (various levels)
  • World Language
  • Physical Education

11th Grade

HISP Courses

  • English 11: American Literature (Honors Prep)
  • U.S. History (Honors Prep)

CKM Core Courses

  • AP Physics/AP Chemistry/Anatomy &
  • Physiology/AP Computer Science
  • Mathematics (various levels)
  • World Language
  • Arts Elective

12th Grade

HISP Courses

  • English 12: Literature & Composition AP
  • U.S. Government AP/World Politics HP

CKM Core Courses

  • AP Psychology/Economics

  • Science (any)
  • World Language (AP year 4)
  • Option for courses at Sacramento City College
