HISP Council

HISP Council

Overview

C. K. McClatchy High School’s HISP Council serves as a forum for parents, teachers, and students to promote the program, exchange ideas, and allocate money raised through contributions.

Members

All parents/guardians of students enrolled in HISP are members of the HISP Council and are welcome at HISP Board meetings.

Board

Leadership of the HISP Council is vested in the HISP Board. Board members are volunteer HISP parents who are appointed or reinstated annually. The HISP Board includes the president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, committee chairs, at-large members representing each grade, and the HISP coordinator. New board members are selected in spring. Bylaws provide the HISP Board with a governance structure and guidelines for operation. At its September meeting, the HISP board adopts the organization’s annual budget for the school year with updates presented at each HISP Council meeting throughout the year.

Board Meetings

The HISP Board typically meets at 6:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month during the school year in the HISP Office (Room 201) at C. K. McClatchy High School.

The Council does not hold a May meeting but instead focuses its attention on the HISP Family BBQ. The June meeting of the HISP Board is held off-site and is focused on the orientation of new board members. The HISP Board also meets off-site in early August to begin preparations for the start of school in September.
